a guy backed into my car screwing up my front bumper pretty good ...

USAA says i need to get an estimate at their shop then figure out what i want to do after that.


i need a good repair place. the damage seems like its mostly paint but the front plastic piece needs to be replaced because the guy's trailer hitch took out a decent chunk.


anyone know of a good auto repair place? USAA wants me to go to Courtesy Collision Center on E Colonial Drive (across from greenway ford) to get an estimate and then get it fixed, but they said i can take that estimate anywhere else i want to as long as the shop doesn't go over that estimate.

Scott, sorry to hear about your car... like mentioned - D&G is a great shop. I know the owners, they live in this area. Gary, used to be the body man/body shop manager at Ultimate Auto Works in Longwood - nothing but ex$pen$ive exotics there. They get my vote as well, good luck getting your car back in shape.

 

Car Emergency Room in Winter Park does great work as well...its where I had my car fixed. They also painted my hood...great paint work.

 

also, just realized i pounded the **** out of my center console lid when he hit me ... might be needing one of those as well

 

update:
his insurance company called me a few minuites ago.

good news:
he told his insurance company the truth. his insurance company will pay for everything pending the bad news. his insurance company is going to send a guy out to see my car tomorrow or saturday.

bad news:
he hasn't paid his insurance bill for 3 months and therefore he was illegally driving without insurance. his insurance agent told me that they gave him notice that he has a certain amount of time to pay up ... if he does, then all is good... if he doesn't, then he's officially an uninsured motorist.

my insurance company wants to:

replace front bumper with brand new GM part
repaint new front bumper
install new front emblem (current is scratched)


the reason for replacing the whole front bumper is that the black piece is the same part number for the whole thing.

now, the front bumper needs to be repainted for sure, but i don't think it has to be replaced. actually, i would much rather get the SLP SS grille:

and install that with repainting my front bumper ... not only would it cost less but it would definantly look cooler.

might i be able to swing this with insurance? i think i'm going to try to go by D&G Auto in Longwood either Friday or Monday and run this past them, as well as getting a quote.

 

If you're wanting to get a little extra from insurance do this. Go find the most expensive repair shop you can. Daya's in Longwood is a good candidate. Then have your insurance adjuster okay the estimate. Take the check to the bank and go to D&G. Gary will have you believing the whole deal never happened. And his rates are pretty reasonable too. His service and workmanship are second to none. There may then be a difference between the amount estimated and D&G's bill. Use it to buy the SLP grille.

Or just go to D&G and be done.

 

i have an appointment to have the car looked at by D&G at noon ...

i hope their estimate is the same as the insurance company because i've seen your car and it looks as good as new.

 

Dude just talk to them, let them know your situation and what you want to do.. I'm sure they will be more than willing to help hook ya up.. Tell them you were reffered by several people who says their work is awesome....

my insurance company is cutting me a check for the total they quoted minus my deductable to be taken to D&G Enterprises

so now my insurance company is going to be contacting this guy to get him to pay up ... hell yea, finally all the thousands of dollars in payments i've made are doing something for me ... lol
