Post FYI: winter springs cops now have laser :-(

driving down northern way in tuscawilla i was flashed by another driver to slow down, sure enough as soon as i rounded the corner the detector went nuts with laser and from about 1/4 mile away he zapped me. one cop was standing there with binoculars while the other one zapped with the laser. they were hitting people in both directions...

thank god for that other driver or i'd have surly gotten a ticket. i made sure to flash about 20 other drivers on my way out of tuscawilla so they wouldn't get busted by these tax collectors either...

so just FYI, winter springs cops now have a new toy and can't wait to use it. i know a few ppl travel 434 or through winter springs so this is for you.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a detector, but these detectors are only good, when they are already scaning.

I usualy go through lake drive to go to tuskawilla, but they can be anywhere.

Cool

Hey Anderson have you ever seen them out on Hayes road just before you get to 434? They like to back in behind the privacy fence of the last house there on the right. They stand behind a bush and run the handheld gun. Very hard to see them there. Somebody stacked up a bunch of palm frawns and tree branches there about a week ago. I saw two cops moving it all so they could back in and I got an idea. I want to go about 15 feet in the woods and dig a deep trench. Fill it loosely with leeves. When they back in ... DOH! Call a tow truck! HAHAHAHA

That would be too funny!

Even simpler than that... drive some long nails through some 2x4s. bury them so just the nails stick up all througout where the pigs park their car to radar you. When they back into the spot... 2 flat tires!!

That is an awsome idea. The winter springs guys are dicks. But longwood and lk mary have to be the worst. I take that way out to a friends house and to the track where exactly are they. Not that i am actually going to do the nails thing.

I'll bring the nails, AND a shovel incase one plan fails

They like to hide on Hayes more so than Moss. There are like 3 or 4 cops that live in my neighborhood. And a sherrif down the street.

For such a small city, we sure do have LOTS of cops

Okay, here's the plan. Dig the trench. Lay the board with nails in it down in the trench. Double whammy.

I know a few Longwood cops. Most are okay. But the traffic division is there just to write as many tickets as they can. Revenue. Watch out for the Black Impala with blacked out windows. He's their aggressive driving patrol officer. You'd never think it was a cop... till he hits the lights.

I know what you mean about Lake Mary cops. They pulled me over one night and gave me a hard time without reason. I was in the 88 on my way to work at 9PM. There was nobody hardly on Lake Mary road. I was going exactly 45 all the way from 17-92 to Rienhart. I saw him sitting at the driveway to 7-11 waiting to pull out. He wasn't running radar. He pulled out about 10 seconds after I passed by. I had to stop at the next red light (Chevron). He pulled up right behind me. Nobody in either of the other 2 lanes. Green. I pull away normally. Not too slow but not gunning it either. I blinker and change from left to center. So does he. At the Primera light by Handy Way I pulled up to the left of another car waiting at the light. Green. I go and change lanes agin to the right, after passing the other car. He pulls up and squeezes in between us. I figure he's gonna stop me sooner or later so I stop just past I-4 on the right shoulder. He pulls in behind me. After he stops he hits his lights. He says that somebody called in saying I was drunk and swerving. Keep in mind now that I haven't been close to any other cars since 17-92. So he's completely FOS. My car is loud with dark windows. That's why he followed me. I just never gave him a reason to stop me. I did his little sobriety test. He asked me what STRKIN meant on my license plate. I explained it and went on to work.

Tip - If they follow you for 0.4 miles they can say they 'paced' you without radar. They can then say you were traveling at any speed they want to. Your word against their's and they will always win in court. I don't ever give them the chance.

Just remember, when it is raining, the laser doesn't work. So lately, that is just an expensive traveling companion for them...

What exactly is the advantage of the laser over the regual KA radars? Most detectors pic up both. Is the laser more "car" acurate? Meaning that if the cop is only aimign at the car in front of me, my laser alert wont go off since its not aimed at me?

laser is next to impossible to detect, except for when you get hit with it.

Ka and K or similar bands expand to several hundred feet by the time they reach you, while laser is about 1 or 2 feet wide. its next to impossible to detect something that is 1 or 2 feet wide till you get tagged with it.

I can attest for the Lake Mary Bastids. I live right off of Lake Mary Blvd. Everyone I know since Ive moved here (about 1 1/2 years ago) has been ticketed. To include my wife doing 48 on Rhinehart road in the Contour. I have never seen such an aggressive money making scam in one town ever. Its rediculous.

Have any of you been targeted by a "false" laser on a radar?

My laser comes up everyonce in a while, but I see no cops anywhere. Its even gone off when I've been 10 mph plus over the limit, but didnt see anyone.

I only have a $100 cobra detector, so I d0optn realy know how good it is compared to others. I refuse to spend more money that what i did. That $100 has already been paid off in preventing MANY tickets.

BTW, do anyof you happen to live in, or visit someone in Tuskawilla Springs?

I've seen a couple of Z28s in there. My GF lives there, so I'm in there all the time.
I was walking with her arroudn one time, and passed a house that had 2 Firebirds, a black Z28, and a red 3rd gen Z28 (not sure on the color of the 3rd gen). There is also a Z28 with green neons on the bottom that I've seen drive by.

Just wondering.
