Some advice needed (programming, future mods)
Some advice needed (programming, future mods)
Currently my car has a JET stage II module. I was thinking of ditching the JET module for some pcmforless programming. I really need to get my speed limiter removed! My gas mileage isnt that great, its not terrible, but not where it could be. My friends A4 car with stock programming and the same mods as me, with 3.73's, gets about 100km more on a tank then I do.
Do I have anything to gain by ditching the JET module and going with pcmforless? I was also gonna grab a LT4KM, I am seeing some knock retard, and thought this might help eliminate some, perhaps complimemnt the pcmforless tune.
Also, I ran into a few issues when I pulled the car out of storage.... It had a bad miss or stumble (almost violent!), and it was setting the SES light on. Turns out my MAF is bad and was reading incorrectly. I am going to install a stock MAF with the screen still IN to see if this fixes the problem. Is this the best way to go if I want to have my pcm programmed? By the amount of posts claiming aftermarket mafs are wasted money, im guessing im heading in the right direction..... ??
any thoughts or ideas are welcomed... mods are in the sig

They recommend at PCMForLess that you buy the LT4 Knock Module and the 160 Degree Thermostat--so I'd say you're on the right track as far as the KM goes (which they sell.) I personally am going with PCMForLess as well. You can't go wrong with unlimited programming for $75 (assuming you already have the laptop and the cable!)
definaltly on the right track for the progamming and KM...
i gained NOTHING from my old hypertech module, mind you this is the similar unit to the Jet, where it gets pluged into the ecm harness (not the power programmer). i think you'll definatly get a better deal with the custom programming...
as for the maf, i'd look into the 85mm Z06 maf, costs $150 from ls1speed.com and it's calibrated for the lt1...i think that's even cheaper than a stock replacement! jsut a thought
