I hit 50k miles on my 97 Z A4 a few weeks ago, im the 2nd owner of the car, ive only had for a few months & since 46k.
As of now she runs great, all the fluids look good so on, but i figured it might be time for some things.
I was gonna change the tranny fluid & filter along with cooling system flush.
My dealer wants me to do a Induction clean to, they say the throttle feels like is sticking, i dont feel it.
So at my milage should i do all these, is the induction clean a waste of $.
Either way im gonna do all the work at my friends shop, all i have to pay for are the fluids/ filters & buy him some beer.
side note, when i changed the air filter it was black, looked like tar.

There was a question in there?
Oh, the TB thing. Well it couldnt hurt (may not help either) but I doubt its worth whatever they're going to charge you.
If it'll make you feel better about it buy a can to TB cleaner at a parts store and spray down the TB while someone holds the gas pedal to the floor (with the car off). Then start the car and hope no one calls the fire dept on you

I was also asking if the TB clean is worth it at my milage, thats all.
Thanks for the help.

No prob, IMO if you're not noticing anything unusual then I would wait. I would also try to get some more info on exactly what this cleaning consists of. That way you can make a better decision on if this is something you can do yourself or if its worth paying someone else.
Yeah my buddy & I can do all the work afterhours at the shop his father owns & where he works.
They build Le Mans, GT & SCCA cars, one of the 3 911's they built won this years 24 hours of Daytona.
I need to post some pic's of all the cool cars down there, for you guys.
Anyhow "off topic, sorry" all i have to do is buy all the fluids, filters & help out "he's a good friend".
But if i can wait another 5-10k for the tranny fluid & cooling system flush, i will.
People are telling me i can do this between 50 & 60k, my car runs good nothing is wrong thus far "other than that belt at WOT".
SLP day is comming up soon to, I need new front rotors & D/R's. If i can wait on this & it wont hurt my car thats a good thing.
So i guess the induction clean is a toss up???
