Removing hatch plastic/vinyl

Does this remove easily? If so, how? I am talking about the plastic trim on the inside of the hatch on Camaros.

I'd like to remove it to clean and apply a vinyl dye, if it's easily removable. Otherwise I'll just rough it on the car.

Thanks!

The plastic finishing panel on the inside tail end of the hatch? It it attached with plastic "Christmas tree" fasteners. You merely pull the panel off. Just be careful that you don't break the panel. It is best to try to locate where the fasteners are and pull right at that point. Once you get a couple loose it will be easier to do. Getting the first one loose can be difficult. Some of the fasteners may stick in the hatch. If so, pull them out and attach them to the panel before reinstalling it. Just pop the fasteners and the panel back into the holes in the hatch.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the help. I had a strong feeling you'd be the first one to reply to this.

I thought I saw one of those fasteners when I pulled on one edge of the plastic, but wanted to make sure it wasn't connected "permanently."

Thanks again!

Solomon

I used one of those cheap door panel removal tools and it popped right off no problem. You can get them at any car stereo or parts shop for a couple bucks.
