im installing my line lock tomorrow...i know i should bleed the brakes...1st anyone installed a line lock w/out bleeding them? were they real mushy...is there an easier way to bleed the brakes other than the complicated process described in the Chilton's mannual?...isn't there someway i can just bleed them from the ABS distribution block?...help me guys...thanks

Yes, the easy way would be to get a ($30) Mity-Vac vacuum bleeder. Every tool box should have one. Forget those cheap imitations and those frustrating so-called bleeder screws that never worked well for me. It makes the job a simple one man operation. SO easy that you can do more regularly to purge dirt and water from the lines once every year for a nice firm pedal on a well maintained system. You do need to bleed the brakes from each caliper to do it properly. I can bleed the brakes without even jacking the car up with that hand vacuum tool.

 

Where can I get one of those and how does it work? I'm doing a ls1 upgrade soon and will need to bleed the brakes.

 

I believe they are available at Summit, Jegs , Eastwood, Sears and many local parts shops such NAPA, Carquest, etc. It is a general puropose hand power vacuum pump, that is mostly used for brake bleeding. Over the years, I've used it for bench bleeding master brake cylinders, brake lines, LS1 clutch cylinders, to test EGR valves, distr. advances, to evacuate power steering resovoirs, to name some of the uses.
