Yet Another Part Problem... (pulley)
Yet Another Part Problem... (pulley)
Since replacing my passenger side front O2 sensor I have been having yet another problem with a different part. Apparently one of the pulleys is making noise since my friend did something with the bottom pulley to release tension on the serpentine belt. I had no problems prior to him doing this and I even sprayed it down with some lubricant but it only seemed to help for a day.
This is a pic from the top down and its the one at the bottom...

And this is a close-up of the pulley...

Was hoping someone could give me some suggestions on a possible fix without replacing? And if replacement ends up being the only way to fix the problem... how expensive is this part? Also... when I turn the air-conditioner on, the noise goes away.

Re: Yet Another Part Problem... (pulley)
That is the Air conditioner pulley right there. i guess ive never heard of anyone replacing the pulley itself, but what did your frieind do? the tensioner is next the air conditioner, are you sure he didnt release the tension with that lol.
Re: Yet Another Part Problem... (pulley)
LOL... maybe he did mess with the other pulley, I wasnt under there too watch and not too "car smart" (as if I didnt give myself away already haha). But for sure the noise is coming from the AC pulley and only stops making the racket when I turn on the AC.

Re: Yet Another Part Problem... (pulley)
Ya and like i said ive never seen just the pulley available, could be a bearing.
how tight is your belt? maybe the belts not perfectly tight and when you turn the AC it tightens up kuz the ac kicks on
