HELP! steering linkage hits headers after BMR k-member install!!!
We just installed BMR's k-member, upper and lower A-arms on my buddies 95 T/A. Let me tell these are some quality and awesome looking suspension components! Anyways, we get everything bolted up and are getting to move the car, so we put the steering linkage back on. Since the BMR k-member's steering rack mount is just a hair different than the stock k-member location the steering linkage is now hitting his TPIS long tube headers!!! We have tried everything and there is no way of getting around it! The knuckle just flat out hits the header and can't turn anymore. Has anyone else ran into this problem? What can we do to get his car back on the road? Can someone make a custom steering linkage to clear the headers? Thanks for any opinions!

i recently installed the k member on my car. keep in mind there is a bit of play in the 6 bolts holes for the k member.
is it possible that it is off on way? or maybe i am reaching here...
i had no issues with my k member, i also did a arms at the same time.
g'luck! hope you get it worked out. or could you open up the mounting holes for the steering rack and move it one direction.

Just an idea but could you adjust the rod-end to give you some more slack or would it throw the alignment off to much? Did the instructions tell you how long to set these or were they preset to the correct length?
Also how much weight did just the front crossmember save or did you weigh anything?

Using our tubular k-member and upper/lower a-arm set, expect a weight reduction of 42 lbs. Combine this with a QA1 spring/shock combo and a lightweight front brake setup and loose over 100 lbs. off your front end without compromising strength or driveability!
It's your steering knuckle.....review the TPIS website they now specify the type of knuckle you'll need( ask me how I know)
Or you can hammer the header to fit , shoot me a email if you'd like to see pics.

My buddy called BMR today, turns out that BMR shipped him the k-member for the canton oil pan which lowers the steering rack mounts about 1/2". BMR said they will get him the right k-member and take care of any costs for re-installation, but since we did it ourselves BMR is giving him a free torque arm!!!
Now that is some customer service!
Thanks for the replies guys, my buddy and I greatly appreciate it!

I just checked their site....the note is no longer there.
In 95 2 different steering knuckles were used.
1 was used on their test car. The other they were unaware of
until I sent in a few pics.
Sorry I can't be more help.

haven't had to change it yet, but it does look to be more accessible.
