Some clarification on roller rockers..

I adjusted my RR when my engine was and did the the was shbox.com said to.

I went 1/2 turn for my pre-load, tighten the poly lock and went 1/16 of a turn to make it tighter.

Cruised around in my car and it ran good! Came back and let it idle in drive way and did some revving and a tapping sound, really loud tapping sounds started...followed by my check engine light....I turned off the car immediately. Wait and started it up for a second and it was still there.

Haven't looked at it yet, letting the engine cool down before I pull the valve covers off. But hopefully I just gotta readjust the roller rockers since the lifters have now be well oiled? These are stock lifters, so should I got 3/4 of a turn or maybe a full turn?

Hopefully its not a bent pushrod or broken something..

Just wanted others opinions about this. Thanks!

so far i have the drivers side valve cover off...right now its the very last rocker that is loose....but it is crazy loud!

are roller rockers that loud when they are loose?

Going to inspect the push rod on it too and check the others.

I'm sure it's just the rockers being loose. Yes, they sound like major disaster the first time you hear that noise. After you get used to it though you can pick out a loose rocker noise pretty easy.

What kind of RR's are you using?

On my Comp Pro mags I go 1/2 past zero lash. tighten the poly lock, and then another 1/8th turn.

im using the self aligning Comp pro mags. and frankly it wasn't just a loose rocker

i pulled the other seven out and they are all straight, but I'm gonna go ahead and get some hardened pushrods today and install them.

At least the rocker and valve stem is ok!

I guess you need to change the status in your sig...

you running some beefy valve springs or what? Glad it wasn't a catastrophic failure... that would be some scary **** to hear after you got done wrenching on the motor.

Yeah I'm really glad it wasn't something worse!!!! It was fun though, took it around the block and it was amazing being able to drive my own car again...not for long though lmao...

I have 918 beehive springs, brand new.

yup, i had much better luck getting accurate results with the engine running

also, for some reason i also had a lock back off and a rocker come loose, luckily i had hardened pushrods and they did not bend though
