is the cc305compatible with stock oil pump drive stub gear?
kinda a spinoff.....ive heard that the stock oil pump drive stub gear tends to fail....so i bought a new one and i plan on using it with my new cc 305 cam....will there be any problems with this? i heard that with a billet cam the gears wears quick but idk is the cc 305 a billet cam? also just fwiw im using a high pressure oil pump the melling 10554.
Buy the parts from a genuinely good vendor who knows what they are doing and you wont have any issues.
The oil pump drive issues are generally caused by bench racers buying parts from cheap vendors and try to solve nonexistent problems with things like HV oil pumps.
A friend has 50K on a GOOD billet cam in a stock shortblock without ever inspecting the oil pump drive, the cam was put in at 165k miles and today the motor is about 205k and in his wife's car.
Most of the Comp stuff is cast unless you pay for the billet upgrade.
STOCK is billet.
