Just got to thinking....has anyone ever tried this? Get a few more cubes w/o having to clearenced a lot...or maybe none at all. Just to try something different for ****s an giggles?? If it wont work...why not? I mean if some had the opportunity to pick on up for cheap would it be worth it?

At just under $700+shipping for the crank, I would build a stroker. Cost would be the only reason I could think of not to. Plus you would still need to assemble everything and check your clearances anyway, just to be safe.

Sounds cool though and certainly if had to be clearanced wouldn't be near as much.

 

Have you looked into what rod/piston combination/selection that would need???

If you really want to be wacky and try it you might want to look at L99 5.94" rods and use normal 355 pistons. I did not do all the match and look though, maybe there is already a readily available rod/piston compression height combination for this.

 

I havent didn much looking into it yet but im going to. The just ran through my mind so i figured id post an see if anyone out there has tried it before. I wanna do something a little out of the norm...Everyone has a 383 dont really wanna fall in suit with everyone else.

 

Common old school deal was offset grind the crank down to small journal size but the pistons are much more expensive than 383 slugs.I think you got a 1/16th in. stoke increase.

 

I think the main reason for the 383 is because it is safe, before going deep into the money, or wasting money going smaller.
