EGR delete question

I finally bought a car, 94 Z. To make a long story short I bought it from a guy who bought it with a blown head gasket, he sent the heads out to be surfaced and the machine shop totally screwed the original heads up. He decided to slap a set of iron heads on it and then lost interest when he bought a '10 Camaro.

While we were putting it back together we decided to !EGR and all the other emissions stuff as it was just in the way and a PIA in general. My question is will not having the emissions controls on the vehicle affect the motor enough to make setting the valves impossible without getting it deleted from the PCM?

I'm trying to not spend too much money on this thing right now as the plan for the car includes a turbo LSx combo.

There will be no effect on setting the valves.

Thanks shoebox, I was just thinking that it might make it run too rough to be driveable. Will it just throw the CEL?

Well, you obviously have to do the necessary blocking off of ports. Yes, you will likely get the CEL during driving.

I see no issues, as long as your State doesn't check emissions...

Yeah, I blocked off the ports and picked up some M22-1.50 plugs for the exhaust manifolds that I will install tomorrow. We just need to finish hooking the exhaust back up, bolt the alt. up and we should be ready to fire it tomorrow.

We don't have emissions testing here......yet.
