95 lt1 Head job pics and questions.

95 lt1 Head job pics and questions.

Im doing a head job and I just finished pulling apart the driver side. I have some picture howing someone can tell me if this is for sure a head gasket leak. and also why the top of my piston looks the way it does.

well i can see clearly on bottom 2 pictures that the gaskets is all f'ed up and that would be why your piston looks the way it does.

Yep - very obvious head gasket blow there, that's the most common spot for them to go as well from what I have seen in these cars. Get the block surface cleaned really well and check for erosion of the surface where the metal fire ring resides. Don't use an abrasive pad to clean either, use a wire wheel or plastic wheel for the cast iron, take the heads in to be surfaced at a machine shop.

ok good glade its a blown gasket but by the look of the passenger valve cover i think its gona be worse. im just happy i found the problem
