quick 58mm TB question

Ok so i recently came accross a 58mm throttle body. Will there be any problems puttin it on my car as it sits now? engine is stock except for long tubes cat back, CPT trans with a 2600 stall, SLP CAI, and vortech elbow. I know the throttle body is larger then the intake ports, but will that cause any problems? In the next year Im lookin to start gettin money together for heads cam, etc. Just got a full time job right outa college and got some loans to pay off first.

Dont bother putting it on till you have heads and cam and an opened up intake. Currently, you will gain nada, zip, zero power.

It will physically bolt on but won't open fully without opening enlarging the ports on the manifold.

The conventional wisdom is that a larger TB won't give you any gains on a stock or near stock engine. However, at least one article I read did indicate that some people do see gains. I guess it is possible to gain something but I wouldn't bet on it......

Here's a link to Brent Franker's page showing you how to port the manifold while it is still on the car:

Enjoy...

I went from stock to 52, then traded my 52 for a 58. Now I know why he wanted to trade... My throttle response seemed better with the 52 (on a stock engine). I do think the 52 added to throttle responsivness, probably not much in the way of power though. If I were you, I would buy it and stick it in the closet until you get some heads on there.
