Summit 58mm and Holley 58mm picture comparison

I see alot of people wanting to know which TB is better and some ask about the quality of the Summit TB. So I took some side by side pictures so you guys could see. I couldnt decide so I ordered both and kept the one I liked better. I chose the Summit TB

Holley are expensive and known to have sticking issues. Summit is probably just Professional Products which is chinese Edelbrock knockoff.

Actually the Summit TB is exactly the same as Trick Flow TB. I had them both and they are exactly the same. I didnt see the point of showing picture since they are identical. If you go to Trick Flows website, there address is the same as Summit Racing.

Here are some pictures of why I did not choose the Holley. The was little pieces of billet aluminum inside the TB. There were aluminum burrs that may be hard to see in the photos. Both units were new out of the box, never been used. I also chose the summit TB because the butterfly action seemed smoother and the Holley blades wouldn't close fully right out of the box. The holley seemed to be "sticky" when opening and closing the throttle blade. It may be able to be adjusted, but for the price, it should not be this sticky. I could not justify the extra $100+ for the Holley unit, especially once I saw the metal flaws inside. Once again, I am sure it could be cleaned up, but for the price, it should be ready to roll out of the box. Don't get me wrong, the holley is a good unit, not to mention that it looks downright awesome, but its just my opinion and I just thought I'd share. Maybe its because I am cheap also As far as performance and drilling out holes for idling and whatnot, I have not installed either one, so I cant help there. This is basicly just a visual comparison. Hope this helps someone out.

Disclamer: Both units are good, if your budget permits and you choose to buy the Holley, go for it. I just wanted to share side by side pics and my opinion may be different than others. Just trying to help someone else that may be stuck on the fence between the 2 ends of the spectrum. Comparing one of the cheaper tb's to one of the more costly ones. And by no means am I stating or implying that one unit is better than the other. Thx.:.

Summit OWNS Trickflow so it went without saying they are the same. That does not mean PP does not make them.

I would have chosen the Holley. The area separating the two 58mm holes on the front has a better blend than the Summit unit. This will increase airflow through the unit. Also the shaft supporting the two throttle blades is of a better design on the Holley unit in relation to air flow. IMHO the Holley will out flow the Summit.

I got a used Holley 58 for $250 so I couldn't pass on it, does anyone know if there's a fix for the"sticking throttle blades" or any other Holley specific issues?

The way the summit defeats the IAC circuit will compromise idle distribution and quality.

Far as the flow thing for the couple hundred dollars price difference I could do a little grinding.

Ive been running the summit 58mm since I did the top end of motor and have not had a problem with it. Fit and finish seemed pretty good to me.
