3.4 vs. 3.8

Hey guys, I am probably not buying one for awhile, but I was hoping you could help me out. I love the body style and front fascia of the 1993-1997 camaro as opposed to the 98-2002s. I know that the 3.8 v6s were in the later 95s and up. But I was wondering if the 3.4 was as bad as everyone thinks. I read the sticky and thought maybe the 3.4 isn't all that bad, but I am not as mechanically inclined as most in the forums. If I ended up with the 3.4, is it comparable in any way with the 3.8, or should I just look for the newer one and forget about it? Thanks

Its not comparable. The 3.4 is a dog. I had one and traded it for a 3.8. Get a 5speed while youre at it.

I have a 98 auto and my roommate has a 98 5speed. both are 100% stock. The 5speed because it has 3.23s pulls just a tad harder. I used to have a 3.4 5speed camaro and my roommate still had her 5speed 3.8 and she would whip my *** all day long in that thing.

the 3.8 also has a bigger aftermarket being used in the Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS.

So the 3.8 in the 98-02 Camaros is the same one as the Monte Carlos of late?

just think of it this way. The 3.4 is the 305 of the 80s. Its a boat anchor
