Car just shuts off, won't restart for a while

Hey gang. I'm at a loss on this one because the car has thrown no codes in the process. I have a 2000 3.8 Camaro and the car has started to shut off while I'm driving down the road. It has only happened twice and there is very little indication that it is going to happen. The car gets to a point (in a very short period of time) where it won't respond to the gas pedal. Then the car just shuts off. The starter can try as hard as it wants and wont get the car back on. If the car does turn on on that very rare occasion it turns right back off.

My mechanic had me check to see if there was any spark the first time that it happened. There was no spark when trying to start the car. I pulled the ignition module and had it checked. It checked out fine. Any ideas?

Thanks ahead of time for the help!

forgot to mention, the first time it did this, the car finally turned back on about three hours later. The second time, it turned back on in about 15-20 minutes.

Could be a cam or crank sensor going out, which is fairly common on 3.8s.

Check for codes like "18x ignition circuit"

ima say ignition control module take the coils off as soon as is turns off to an autozone along with the icm and they will test them for free.

if you get the car running. tap on the plug for the icm if the car
dies you might need a icm plug .

Thanks for the idea. I've actually burned two ignition modules since the one mentioned in this thread died. The new one lasted two months, the next a week and a half. I am now wondering how long this new one will last. Does just the plug tend to be bad or the wiring all the way to the plug? I have noticed that when I fiddle with the plug after the car turned off, I can hear the fuel lines prepping as if something had turned them "off."

Not sure if this info is any help, but the car will misfire while cold until the temp of the car passes the first mark on the temp gauge. I usually let the car heat up in the morning, but it's still below the first mark once I get moving in most cases.
