Question .612" lift, what parts to handle?

I'm swapping a 306 in soon so I'm trying to get all the parts now. I want to get the most lift out of the cam possible. I saw a set of Scorpion 1.7rr on a 7/16 stud that someone posted in a thread earlier and I was interested in them. Are they good rockers? What springs should I use to handle the lift which is .612" on the exhaust side? Will I need any other parts to keep the geometry correct and will 1.7rr affect reliability at all?

they are very cheap crappy rockers.

I would not use a 1.7 rocker it is going to seriously mess up the geometry and eat parts like guides.

I think I would stick with 1.6's. Then again I don't think I would ever buy scorpions either.

Remember, just because you have tons of lift, does not mean you need it.

Okay, so scorpions are a no-no. Good to know. Yea, I have no problem with 1.6's but figured if I could get 1.7's, why not.

"they are very cheap crappy rockers."

Based on what? I have seen numerous good reviews for the Scorpion rocker arms.

1.7 rockers on a 306 cam with stock heads is overkill. Stock heads will stall out well before you reach the lift of that combo. Just run 1.6's and save yourself the trouble.

Even with 1.6's and the 306 on a stock cube build with stock heads you will run out of head flow well before the cam wants to peak.

I'm getting the heads ported in the summer and I'm okay with not getting the
"full potential" out of the cam with stock heads till then.

Okay, I should have my money tomorrow and I can place an order tomorrow. Kind of want to buy all my parts from the same place.

Why not buy them from Comp? Then you could buy all your valvetrain parts from them?

I have never personally used the Scorpions, but several engine builders that I trust have said that they are quality parts.

I'm not getting them anymore, if the gains are minimal for all the trouble.
