Removed valve cover bolts, PROBLEMS!

Ok so i was going to put these polished valve covers on and when i removed the bolts, i forgot the next day to put the bolts back on. So i drove it and all of a sudden my hood was all smokey and smelt like burning gas. I put the bolts back on but it is still smokey. I realized i lost alot of oil because theres a fat puddle under the car. Did i mess my car up?

It's going to smoke until all the oil is burned off your headers.

"Mess" is a good term. I am sure you got oil all over the place, but I doubt you did any serious harm. Good luck getting it cleaned up.

I hope we learned a lesson here.

Wipe off what you can

Clean oil off headers

Don't drink and wrench

Start car and burn remaining oil off headers

Learn from the past.

Tell funny story to friends while drinking and not wrenching

you can use lil brake clearer to get some of that oil off but don't use too much!!! you should spray the rags down and just wipe the oil off that is on your. but don't spray on the motor!!!

Yep lotsa dry rags and alot of elbow grease, then some mean green or the like (degreaser) on clean rags and don't soak the motor (Opti), then wipe it back down with clean dry rags. The heat cycles will take care of the rest.
