Anyway to tell if opti is bad taken apart? (pics)

Some seal went on my front cover, pretty sure its the water pump seal and oil shot all over the place, drenching the opti. The car randomly died and won't start now. I have good fuel pressure and used the sticky to rule out that its the opti. But when i took the opti apart, no oil penetrated the seals however, it looked like a little bit of oil leaked in through the vaccuum hole but didn't hit any key components (or at least i think so). I can't think of anything else it could be, but before i spend the money and replace it I wanna make sure its the opti. I just replaced the cap and rotor not even 10,000 miles ago. Here are some pics, is there any way to tell that its bad from checkin it out apart off the car? Spins freely no problems..

If oil got inside, maybe it coated the lense of the optical sensor? If this is true, you should have gotten a code indicating a missing hi-res or low-res signal. That's the only way I can see oil causing a failure assuming it wasn't drenched and affecting the cap.
