EGR Block off plates sealant

For years my EGR 'delete' consisted of the EGR tube cut and bent to prevent flow it's gettho but it worked fine.

lately, I managed to cut myself on the tube as I was dealing with some wire in the back, so I decided to put the block off plate instead.

Do I need some sealant or gasket? or can I get metal to metal?

I'd recommend the use of appropriate gaskets.

where can I find them? I don't recall if there were originally gaskets; I know it's been without for well over 10 years.

Is there some kind of generic gasket material I could buy and cut in shape?

You can buy sheets of gasket material at NAPA. Or, you can buy nice EGR block off plates on Ebay for around $20 and they include the gaskets.

WTF? Hmm, well, looks like you're heading to NAPA tomorrow.

would any sealant do instead if I can't get the gasket material?

sealant should work fine. just make sure that it is high temp. the same stuff you use to seal the front and back china wall of the block to the intake should do.
