can you shim the springs for more lift

My friend said that I could shim my lt4 springs, so they can accept the lift of the 503 cam im planning on. is this true?

no

shims=less lift more pressure.

think about it, the spring will have less room to travel, common sense. Tell you "friend" he is a dummy

LT4 springs will not work with that cam.

"shimming" will allow LESS travel (less lift) but give you a lil more spring pressure. You can't get enough spring pressure from the LT4 spring for the CC 503 cam.

mdaction is right. There is not enough travel even set up at stock ht so shimming will make it coil bind even sooner.
