Cam choice and Bronze oil pump gear?

okay cam again....after my oil pump gear shreeding im guessing the cam gear is toast.

I have a Hotcam Kit and wanna upgrade.

The car isnt a DD either.

I was gonna go with a XFI 280 but some say its too much for my 355 with ported heads and intake. Down the road I plan on going 383 anyways.

What cams should i consider?

I like the hotcam but want alot more.

CC306 maybe?

Also Should I get a BRONZE OIL PUMP GEAR?

OH AND....Stock or HV moroso oil pump? It has a stock pan on it.
And for some reason the dealer wants 235 for a stock pump but the autoparts store (like autozone only wants 42 bucks??)

If you are changing the cam again, just make sure you get the right gear on the cam. Get a new stock oil pump drive gear and don't play around with the bronze gears.

In reality your cam gear is probably fine, but if you are switching make sure the new one is correct.

Use a non HV pump. People seem to like the Melling Select model. You can find more info with a search.

I used the Melling M55A and it worked great with my stock pan and 370rwhp motor. If you can, I highly recommend getting the Moroso HV pump AND PAN. Don't get the pump unless you get the pan to support it.

You can get cams with any kind of gear on them. Get one that will support a steel/metal dist. gear and NOT brass. Comp makes a composite gear that is compatible with most anything.
