Dyno disappointment, need tune?

I just got my Kooks headers and high flow cat,Y pipe installed, plus new plugs, wires, LT-4 knock module. They dyno'd the car after finished on a Dynojet Winpep7. Results 266.41 max hp and 301.11 max torque. Air/fuel shows 12.01 on the chart. The car ran a 13.86@100 mph with a 2.1 60ft time on stock tires before the headers, plugs, wires etc so I though it was putting out more than 266 hp. I was hoping after the headers and with some slicks to get near the 12's. Should I get a mail order tune? At the speed shop that did the headers they want $550 for a tune. I passed. Saving that for subframe connectors and slicks.

My car dyno'd in at 296.76 max hp and 310.2 max torque with just bolt-ons. Did you check for any vacuum leaks, or your throttle counts? The only thing I have that you don't is a edelbrock TB and a tune, and an M6 with 3.42's .

Sounds like you could squeeze some more out of a tune maybe, or it's just due to conditions etc. Overall your right in the ballpark for just bolt-ons on a 1994 A4. You're not going to be shocked by bolt on power, it's heads and a cam that are the heavy hitter HP mods on our cars.

Did you check for knock when it's was on the dyno? A LT1 scanmaster comes in handy...and were you running open headers? there's a few ponies right there

The headers were closed the dyno graph shows a nice flat curve hitting 200 hp at 3500 with 1 slight dip at about 4400 and peaking a 5000.

Can you post a pic of the dyno graph?

Those are definitely low numbers (not super low, but still low enough that I'm suspicious), I bet something is wrong.

For an automatic with no tuning thats about right. Get a mailorder tune and drive on.

For an automatic and your mods, those numbers don't look bad.

Considering that your base would have been around 240+-. A gain of 26 (266) seems quite reasonable given that the only thing you have is a LT header. Your A/F is a bit rich, so I'm pretty sure that a mail order tune would give you more, but why have it tuned until you have some more mods, e.g. 1.6rrs, h/c, etc. Your times seem quite good as well as your MPH especially in light of you 60" times. Your track times seem about right, but your dyno numbers after mods seem low.

Try running the car again and see what times you pull off. If your in the mid-low 13's with a mph of 103-105, then your car is right on par and there must have been an issue with the dyno. If you run slower than that, then its possible you have some fuel/ignition/electrical problem.

I think they are OK. Like others have said get a tune. For comparision I did 265rwhp and 280rwtq with the following mods on my 96z
A4 90k
Cutout, vig2800, motive 3.73, Madz28 tune, CAI, pulley, CSI, 1LE intake bellow.

Headers are go on in the spring and maybe some 1.6rr, then back to the dyno.

If you want to dip into the 12s, you will need full bolt ons, sticky tires, and a higher stall converter.
