intake might be to high, you probably need mounts, ls1 fbody steering rack and linkage, custom harness, fbody oil pan, custom tuning, ls1 headers, the list goes on.

I'm not sure if it is out or not either, haven't really been keeping up on those things lately. There are plenty of other LSx platform out to choose from though. It just comes down to money and time.

LS2 looks like the best bet...and everything needed above, plus trans and a few extra thousand dollars.

You ought to poke around on the hybird forum on LS1tech.com as there are alot of conversion vehicles and information there. That'll probably give you some further ideas of what is needed and what your up against for the swap.

The LS3 is out, it replaced the LS2 in the '08 vettes. And it wouldn't be any more difficult than an LS2. It would bolt in just the same, use the same headers and everything. However it would need a custom harness, but so would the LS2 so that doesn't really make a difference.

I say go for the LS3, it's more powerful in stock form, plus has more displacement and waaaay better heads from the factory so making more power down the road will be just a cam swap away

But if you already need tuning, etc. and the engine is out, you oughtta throw a cam in now too and save yourself the hassle.

True, and for the price difference, it would be silly to pass on the LS3.

The LS2 isn't a bad swap, you need a adapter harness from Katech for the knock sensor, other wise straight forward for any car already set up to run a LSx based motor. I'm sure the LS3 will be some what similar as it is a Gen IV motor, GM keeps parts fairly inter changeable. An LSx based swap really isnt to terrible, if your willing to spend the dough, talk to some one like Speartech for a plug and play harness.
