Ok So I Went Out And Bought A Grade 8 Rod And Still Cant Get This Hub On!! (sorry)

sorry about posting this again but i got the grade 8 rod finally and im using 4 washers to get the job done but i swear im using all the force i can and this d*** hub wont budge !!! i so tempted to just beat on it with a hammer but iv been warned to not to


(UPDATE its supposed to stop here right???)

I've heard of people sticking the hub in the oven for a while to heat it up then slide that bad boy on while hot.

The surfaces should be absolutely clean with no burrs. You can do a very light oiling on the surfaces. It also helps to have a thrust bearing to reduce friction. You can oil the rod, as well (where it is contacting the nut). It also needs to be going on absolutely straight.

Try the oven trick,and be sure to use gloves.Dont get it too hot.

I would do like 180*.You dont want to melt the seal.

Yes,but you are putting it thru the seal.

Its going to take a while to heat it all the way internally.I would give it at least a 1/2 hour.

yea it was going well until it stopped budging so i took it off again to make sure the keyway was lined up which it was then tried again and the same thing happened it stopped
