Hey guys, cold start, cold outside, pig rich and wants to foul plugs?

Only since the weather has turned cold in my area have I been experiencing this nonsense. Last night I reached the end of my patience with it. I wonder if it has something to do with my tune. I have the feeling that maybe it does but I wated to pic some of the finest brains here before I contact Brian about it. I've also wondered if I have a coolant temp sensor gone bad that's misleading the pcm into dumping huge amounts of fuel at startup.

I'm near sure that it's not leaky injectors because it only does it when it's super cold outside and on cold starts (together). It can be cold outside with some heat still left in the engine, let's say I've gone to visit somewhere and It's sat around for an hour or so and I go out to start it, it's fine, no nonsense. So please throw me some hints, thanks in advance!

James

I had similar problem on cold start. With large injectors (now @ 72#) my (stock) fuel map in open loop mode would dump alot of fuel. I leaned out the open loop afr map @ all MAP values for cold temps. This worked for me. Even with the injector calibration adjustment to 72#, the pcm would pass large amounts of fuel @ cold start, so, I had to do it in the open loop afr map. For closed loop, I changed the MAF calibration. Don't know what size Inj. form you sig. (97ss 383 - D1 M6 obd2 pcm). Hope this helps. B.

My injectors are 37#ers. Some1 else recommended cleaning the MAF. I'll try that and see what happens. I don't have any way to tweak the calibration so I' have to send the pcm off again.

O.k., cleaning the MAF didn't work. I bought a coolant temp sensor in hopes that mine has gone bad and is telling the pcm that it's 0 degrees outside and in turn dumping fuel. I don't have any diagnostic equipment to verify this so it's just a $20.00 hunch. Any body else have any suggestions. I don't have any way to play with the tune so if it's that I'll have to pull it back out and send it for a reflash.
