Gen 1 SBC parts compatability

Since im new to SBCs, starting off I bought canton fabbed aluminum valve covers to clear my RRs. What parts from the Gen 1s are compatable with the LT1? Head bolts? crankshafts? etc. Thx

most of the bolts, valves, springs, ect.

LT1/4 cams will work in gen 1s, but usually not the other way(opti hole in front of cam)

gen 1 1 piece rear main seal cranks are the same as the LT1 cranks

rods, pistons, 1 piece RMS oil pans, oil pump/pickups and oil pump drive shaft

a gen 1 double roller timing chain set works if you run an electric waterpump and clearance the cover

Exactly what Dave said. In case you haven't found out yet, you're going to have to use cork gaskets with those Canton valve covers. The stock rubber gaskets are not thick enough. Check these guys out

thx for the note, i was using the felpro rubber ones with the stockers i was hoping to re-use

I went for a drive yesterday with the car, yeah its gotta be a spun bearing or i opened up the clearances a lot and its hemmoraging oil somewhere from the hotcam kit swap. Im opting for just a .30 over stock rebuild with hypereutectic pistons with the rest of the valvetrain parts like my GM extreme duty timing set and maybe i can re-use the cam if its not hurt (hopefully) all the new parts only have about a 1 hour total run time on them What should a general cost of machining and shortblock assembly price be around if i provide those couple parts? Thanks for the help so far.
