No need for a cam to hit 12's...

I guess the question is how far into the 12's do you want to be?

Bolt-ons, a mild cam, a higher stall converter, and some good tires out back should definitely put you there.

Full bolt-ons, full suspension, stall, sticky tires. Of course a decent driver and acceptable track conditions surely help.

for low/mid 12's on a full weight street car then yeah the combo's above will get you there, if your willing to gut the car to the point I have then bolt-ons are all you need...

Have you ever been to the track before? Do you have slicks? Are you prepared to break parts alot? If not, then I would plan on a cam being included in the list of parts needed for 12s. I know my car broke the rear every time I tried to give it hell on slicks. Granted, you might get a good 60 ft. a few times on a radial, but I wouldn't expect it all the time. I would worry about the Mickey Thompson DRs to be too sticky too. So, lets say you are on stock non DR radials. I'd think you would need a decent sized cam, LTs, CAI. That should do it. Granted, you need exhaust, but that's a given.
My car ran consistent mid 12s @ 113 with LTs, CAI and a cam, all on radials with 1.9 - 2.2 60 fts.

Nothing wrong with a auto, and it's easier on driveline parts. Friend of mine has a full bolt on car with a Hotcam that goes very low 12s. It's an auto, with a 3200 Vig.
And once your running mid 12s, maybe nitrous might look like an easy way to run mid 11s.
