So how you think I pulled this off? Two broken oil level sensors within 3000 miles

Broke my first one, waited about 2 months before I fixed it. When I took it out the end piece had broken off (the "free moving" piece) and about 3000 miles later my low oil light comes on, and yep I have plenty of oil in it. I never dropped the pan to go searching for the piece I just never had the time, and since it sat in there for so long and never did any harm I just kind of forgot about it. If this one is broken again I am going to drop the pan I don't want two of those things floating around in their as much as I don't want one. I haven't taken the new out yet to check if it broke the same way but it's doing the same things it did when the last one broke.

So how did I go about breaking two of these within a short amount of time? Obviously something else has to be going on here.

The keyword is "if". You admit you have not even checked yet to see what is going on, so your last question is not even valid (as of yet).

Did you install the new sensor before you put the pan back on?

The harness going to the sensor could be the source of your problem.

This is true, I'm only 500 miles into this current oil change and I would hate to have to go out and buy another 5 quarts of mobile one just to check the sensor.
