Friday 13th car running really bad!?!

So today we did the following..

Seafoam
New Plugs
New o2s (we had to cut the wires and reconnect them to the new o2 sensors so that it was compatible with the harness.. we are not positive if the drivers side is wired correct)
Switch to Synthetic oil
Cleaned MAF
Cleaned TB

Now the car shutters at idle, at lock up and when you first get on the gas to leave say a red light (leaving idle)

Something is backfiring like hell and it sounds like its coming from the passenger side. Its popping a lot but not exactly consistently if you know what I mean.. my friend driving behind me said he saw some smoke and it was shooting flames on some but not all the pops

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG?!?

What codes are you getting from the PCM?

Double check the O2 wires and make shure your plug boots are on good. I had a plug wire work loose and it did the same thing.

I would look at the plugs first. Very easy to have one not all the way tight or the wires on or not on the right ones.

What did you clean the maf with? Check your wires and plugs first thats what it sounds like to me. Always start with the easy stuff. Autozone should scan your car and at least tell you what the codes are if theres one near you. They cant do much else but knowing the codes would help.

I cleaned the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner.

I checked the plugs and wires are all in the right spots.. ill go over them tomorrow if I get the chance.. the problem definately sounds like its coming from the passenger side..

even tho it sounds and feels a lot like plugs. it only seems to happen in closed loop. The car idled for a few minutes before it started backfiring so we turned it off. then when i was driving home i drove for a short while before it started backfiring again so it seems like its only closed loop

If I am not mistakin, closed loop means its reading off your O2's. If I were you I would be lookin closely at those and makin sure there is no problem. Especially since you said your not positive youve got them on there right.

Double check all your plug wires and try to retrieve the SES code, that may very well lead to the problem.

If its only closed loop then it HAS to be O2s.

thats what i thought.. but at the same time.. maybe its not just closed loop maybe its just when the exhaust is hot enough to burn the unburnt fuel from the cylinder thats not firing.. also the o2 we werent sure about was on the drivers side and the backfiring sounds like its coming from the passenger side for sure.

None the less i will un hook the o2s and see if the problem persists.

Ill bet on it being the o2s as well. It probably happened when you seafoamed or something. Thats why you would be running rich and backfiring and shuttering from stop lights. Thats EXACTLY what mine did when I had an o2 go out.
Go to oreilley or autozone and see if they cant scan it for you.

they cant.. it has to be OBDII to scan there. I replaced the o2s after seafoaming as well but i can still bet its them since we had to do some ****ty wiring

think i figured it out.. i pulled all four passenger plug wires.. all the insides of the plug boots look clean and silver except one.. which looks cruddy.. kinda like its rusting from not being used in a while. I think thats the culprit. Do you think this is because the plug isnt firing so the wire isnt doing anything? or do you think the wire is dead so the spark just is never gettnig there?

ill try to get a picture
