How much of a difference between LE3's and Le ported aftermarket heads?

Curious as to if it would be worth the extra money to buy a set of Trick Flows, AFRs, or even LT4 heads and then send them to LE over the stock casting LE3s. Ive been outta the game for a couple years I was always partial to AFR's but in looking around recently Ive seen some big mumbers put up with the LE2s and 3s. Im looking to put together a 430-480 N/A setup with a 150 or 200 shot. Id actually like to see a flow chart or two if anyone has any.

On that note would a ported LT4 be a big increase over a ported stocker?

If you got the cash, then yes. Remember you still need the heads a few grand, the LT4 intake for the heads, and then pay for the portjob I'd say another grand. I have the LE3 heads and cam package but it's not done yet you might want to look into that package instead.

Depends, what are your goals for the car.

This is *the* most important part that people seem to forget....

Do you have a comparison of his porting the Trickflows also? Would the Trickflows or AFR 210's work on a stock bottom if an Edelbrock LT4 or custom built manifold was used? Valve clearance?

Thanks for the info

Goal - Not ready for the stroker bottom end yet but would like to prepare for it now in current purchases.

Im looking for mid to low 11s N/A 10s on the bottle. But I would rather jjust buy the AFRs or Trickflows first if its going to make the difference, rather than spending almost 2k on LE3s then upgrading to the aftermarket head later anyway

According to LE, his trickflow heads end up flowing similar to my AFR210's he did. With the AFR's, you need an LT4 manifold, but I believe the TFS heads use an LT1 intake. I would email lloyd and see what he thinks. I picked AFR's because of the bigger combustion chambers and thick deck when comparing to stock castings due to me running a turbo down the road.

See that was actually one of the problems I had with the TF and AFR head they both have larger combustionchambers. The Trick Flow had 62 I believe, even when milled people were saying their compression was lowered over stock. Since Im doing n/a and nitrous id rather keep the high compression

You should watch for what Clint (T/A lt1) does. He is going from a TFS ported castings on his 355 to a LE3 head.
