throttle body ?
throttle body ?
I've done some extensive searching on here and it seems that going with a 52mm tb is a waste of time, period- but going with a 58mm requires porting of the intake and major motor upgrades to really get your money's worth. I need a tb for my 94lt1 and I'm wondering where I can get a new stock tb for a descent price? It seems that every place I've checked, they only have the 52's and 58's. What should I do? Go big, in hopes of future mods or just pick up a stocker? The only mods I will have when finished with my swap are as follows: pacesetter lt's with ory-pipe, magnaflow cb, no cat-egr-air, k@n filter charger intake system, 2800-3000 stall, msd otpi, etc. No head work, no cam, no nitrous- for now. This v6 to v8 swap is killing me financially, so I'll have to wait until my pocketbook recuperates to do the big stuff. lol
thanks

My stocker is f' up and it's off of a vette so there is no cruise control linkage. Other than that I don't mind using stock- but the trouble is I have been able to find a new one- I see a few for sale on the forums, who knows maybe I'll just go that route- unless someone can really convince me to go bigger.

The second guy is obviously a little crazy on the gains. 50-100 hp on a heads and cam car.
The ported seem like a good deal and most people with them say they don't have any of the issues that aftermarket TB's do.

If your definately getting a new TB, I'd go with a 58mm and just port the intake. It's not hard and trust me, the mod bug will bite you at some point and you'll want to do some bigger things in which case, you will already have the TB you need for best results. Nothing bad will come from going bigger. The gains might not currently be your moneys worth, but it will be in the future.

I got rid of my 52MM BBK and replaced it with an Arizona Speed & Marine (ASM) 54MM. The porting was extremely minimal and took about 45 minutes tops to replace. The BBK is a junk. After time, it will have idle problems (weak design on the throttle actuator, stamped steel, rivet joints). Spend the extra money and avoid the future problems. The $300 you spend on the BBK will be toilet paper money after you replace it.
THROTTLE body
Iam going back to my 48mm one b/c the car lost some low end t/q ,the drivability was poorer, the cruise control linkage needed modification, and the shifts for the 4l60e became sluggish, and the plastic cover didn,t fit and yes i,m getting rid of it, and in my case a useless mod

When i had it on last year i didn,t know you needed a tune and i just found out recently that was a mistake. BTW i,m getting my pcm tuned now and am going back to the stk 48tb and have a buddy that is interested in the 52 tb so at least i can recoup some of my losses.
