Anybody ever get a comp cam that was degreed wrong?.. My car barely makes any vacuum (4-6" at where it would idle if it did idle and 14-16" after lifting off the throttle around 3000-3500K) and literally EVERYTHING else has been checked, so i'm pretty sure the cam being off is the culprit (being that it wasn't degreed besides matching the dots up). Has anyone else ever gotten a cam that was off from comp cams???

Was it degreed at installation to see if the actual machining of the cam was correct? I would lean more toward an indexing error on installation.

I don't know if it was my cam or the timing set, but my stuff was 3* off. I corrected it.

Most times it's the timing set.... MOST TIMES. If you are that low on vacuum you have a seriously leak someplace.

hmm.. i'll have to check up on that next tim im home over the spring break. As for the leak at the intake, I am kindof leaning towards that being a possibility because I got block off plates on the AIR and EGR crap in the back there and i'm not sure if it was sealed off properly, its just a kindof a bitch checking the intake for leaks since it doesnt idle by itself at all... I heard of some other method to check it with compressed air and backing off all the rockers, but that would be more work than just simply taking off the intake, putting on new gaskets and bolting it all back down..

Oh yeah they need sealant on them too and some of the threads on them as well since they aren't blind holes.

I have seen timing sets and cams off. Like has been said many times you have to check everything. Part of a proper build.

To check for an intake leak, get a can of starting fluid, have somebody in the car keeping it running, spray the ether around the intake gaskets, vacume hoses, etc, if it diesels you have found your leak.

To answer your question, yes. I've had two CC306's that were ground incorrectly. One pretty bad, the other off just enough to make me think the tuning was off a bit. I switched to a GM cam after that.

Low vaccum

Good Advertising, poor lifters and other things that we are supposted to keep going back and supporting these vendors without questening their lack of quality control. Try using a, say a windex bottle with water in it spraying around the mating surfaces btw. manifold and heads. If vac goes up you have solved your problem except for the repair. Could be the intake gaskets or tightening sequence and torque specs.
Good luck Ted
