OBD-1 conversion questions

Would i still be able to get a dyno tune in the future? Also, what are the advantages to getting an obd1 conversion?

I'm assuming your car is a 96-97, or you would already be OBD1. Just swap in an OBD1 computer (94-95), along with the knock sensor (not the knock module, the sensor in the passenger side of the block), and you're good to go. You can have it dyno tuned, as this is the main advantage to the swap; most dyno shops/tuners have the capability to tune an OBD1 LT1, but not as many do LT1 OBD2 (most skip over these years and go straight to LS1 tuning).

I swaped to obd1 on a 97SS 383-D1. PCM for less. They told me my knock sensor was OK. But, I could see the timing was rolling back due to false knock (alot of noise).

Switched back to obd2, and, my LT1 edit ver 2.2. I think obd2 ver 2.2 software improvements that helped me were...

BLM lock @1 with WOT enabled.
MAF cal high threshold can be set to maximum. (It has been stated - by C. Millard - that obd2 reduces inj. pulse by 1/2 when in WOT and MAF high threshold triggered.)

Also, I had control with LT1 edit to program @ varied speeds/ PCM conditions to alter AFR @ WOT and low speed closed loop mode. A dyno-jet wideband O2 sensor really helped with numerous road trips and data logs.

I don't have LT1-edit OBD1 S_ware, but, wish I did just to play.
Hope this helps. It's difficult to get any info on this subject matter. It's been a self learning experience for me.

I wish that the PCM for less and madwolf, who both sell these conversions, would come on here and give the full story.
