Whicj would be louder, Magnaflow SS or Hooker Aerochambers?

Now that I've found out Magnaflows are a striaght thru design, I'm trying to determine which would be the louder muffler, Magnaflow or Hook Aerochambers?

Hooker Aeros somehow flow better and they aren't straight thru, but Magneflows have good hp #s on the comparison charts, I know free flowing can sometimes hurt performance on NA applications.

I'm trying to find the best performance but quietest muffler and I'm down to these 2. I may end up using dual C5 mufflers in the Magnaflow series, since those are in/out on the same side they can't be straight shot thru and are probably quieter than the in / out on opposite sides.

I can only tell you about the aerochambers as I have a hooker catback on my 95.

When I first installed it I was disappointed in the idle volume. The car was not much louder than stock. But like any performance exhaust it comes into its own as the throttle opens. I've gotten used to it and like the sound of hooker at idle. I added a cutout before the axle but don't care too much for that sort of noise. It just puts me to mind of the V8 straight body truck I used to drive.

For a low priced exhaust I don't think the Hooker can be beaten. It rumbles quietly at idle but roars like it should when you're in it.

That is how mine is too, I definitely agree with you.

im pretty sure the hooker is one of the quietest systems out there at idle, and one of the most free-flowing

Thanks all. After having some time to search thru tons of posts about aerochambers, I have yet to find one complaint other than they are too quiet Which is what I'm looking for so I think I'm sold on them at this point. May even replace my Flowmasters on my truck with them.

But what about the Hooker Max Flows??
According to this thread, they are even quiter..not sure how since they are a straight thru design, but look down a few posts and the noise chart..

i have the the hooker catback system. yeah, it sounds great. Even though i have a cam, it's still not loud enough for me. Trust me, i'm not a dynomax bullet lover but i think these are too quiet. I usually am fine with it, but it sucks driving behind some kid in a mustang that has flowmasters and not being able to hear my car until i floor it. I'm searching for a true dual setup with good mufflers. i'm wondering if all the hooker aerochambers are that quiet, or if its just the crossflow mufflers?? i love the tone, but still notas good as a mustang

That's what I'm looking for. I have just a tad bit bigger cam than what you're running and the only time I can hear the radio is when its at about a 2k rpm cruise...but at the same time, it sounds really bad azz at a red light...which is why I'm going to totally replace the rear section with the new muffs...when I want it to be loud again I can just bolt the rear section with the straight thru muffs back up

I ordered the Aerochambers yesterday...its going to be a unique combo of muffs, something I've never seen done on a car before, hope it works well, but I'm using a combination of a C5 aerochamber and a cross flow aerochamber in order to reduce the piping needed under the rear for the true duals....maybe be February before I fab it up..would like to get it to the track once before I change it up to see if it hurts performance any.
