EGR question

i have been wondering this for a while maybe you guys can help me out with this. i have emmissions headers i have yet to put on i am going to delete the AIR for sure (no cat) but i have had some experence in the past with EGR and when it quits working the car usually gets substantially worse gas milage. when you delete the EGR and have the PCM retuned is it as bad? id like to get rid of all that mess but i dont want to if gas milage suffers

No, it shouldn't hurt your fuel economy to the point that you would notice it.

you need to turn the egr off in the programming. some lt1 programs are to turn on egr and bump the timing up. with the egr removed and the computer doesn't know it it will spark knock hard and you actually lose performanceand mpg. gm worked very hard to integrate the egr and not lose performance. with newer cars the egr makes no performance difference. it will not come on at wot. i would hook it up or have it programmed out.
