the distributor drives it on sbc's, but the isn't a distributor on an LT1.

There's an oil pump drive gear that you would see if the intake manifold were removed. Goes down the same hole a distributor gear would.

While we are on this subject..My oil pressure fluctuates from idle to part throttle. After the car warms up and at a stop light the pressure is much lower, once I get moving it jumps right back up. Being new to the LT1 and its oil pump system I was curious if it was normal or if it should stay steady at a certain pressure. Might just be the gauge was just curious while we are kinda on the subject.

Oil pressure on an LT1 is lower at idle than at part throttle. Oil pressure increases as the RPM's increase. It is also lower at hot idle than cold idle.

The faster the engine is spinning, the faster the drive gear turns, in turn creating more pressure.

thanks, could that be made to work on an sbc? in the future i'm thinking of going to megasquirt with EDIS and an LT1 intake. if that piece could be made to work it would make converting the manifold much easier.
Thanks.
