Car stumbles at 50mph....is it my tranny?

The car stutters/stumbles/etc. between 45 and 55 mph while in 4th gear and light pressure on the gas. When I step on it, it runs fine. The tranny is only 3 years old. Can my 4th gear clutchpack be giving way???

Thanks

This belongs in the drivetrain section, when was the last time you did a tranny flush and filter change? Actually i'm a little confused because you said 4th gear......Is this a manual or auto tranny?

It is the engine that is sputtering, that is why it is in the engine section. I only suggested that it might be the tranny.

Auto

could have a nasty hole in your fuel map.... sorry...couldn't resist

scan it and see what the engine is doing at those rpms...best way to figure it out.

has the car ever been tuned

After the install of my longtubes and Tru-duals my car did this around 40-50mph, changed plugs to NGK iridiums and no more stumble. try changing your plugs and wires. just my .02$

One burnt wire and one burnt boot resting on headers. Changed plugs and wires. All better now. Think twice about getting AS&M headers; horrible plug access for two or three plugs. Not enough room to get a ratchet on the plug socket so I had to use a wrench to turn it.
