'94 camaro 6 speed manuel missfiring
'94 camaro 6 speed manuel missfiring
Alright my freind is a complete idiot. Here is what he did to his camaro. He has a 94' camaro 6 speed. It has air shocks, a $7 resisitor that plugs into his air box sensor, & a generic cold air intake off ebay. After installing this $7 resistor he got off of ebay this is what happen to his car. It started to hesitate while taking off in first gear. In second at higher rpm, and all the other gears when accelerating. The car now backfires and he beleives the car missfires. I told him to do the following remove the resistor and unplug the battery for 15 min. He did that and plugged the battery back in for 15 minutes. He still had the same problem. Also his stick jerks around while driving, it shakes alot. Does any one have the same problem? We live in san diego, ca do you know camaro specific techs that could fix this? I never heard of a $7 part that would make 20 HP instantly. Supposibly this little wire with silicone in the middle makes the sensore in the airbox think the air/fuel ratio was perfect. Anyways that is removed and the car is still messed up.
Any ideas on why?

Since it is hurricane season in florida, I ran through a couple of puddles the week before last on my way home from work. Start up the car the next day and whaddaya know, it idles down to 500, and starts missing through the rpm ranges. My G-Tech Performance meter (ok, my brother) and me both agree that the car is slower. Is it the optispark? I think so. I really wish there was a replacement for that piece of junk.

Re: '94 camaro 6 speed manuel missfiring
has anyone had a dynaspark in their car and really put it through the paces?
when I searched through all the lt1 forums I could find last year when my opti imploded, it seemed like the dynaspark was the least used "opti helper".
it does seem to be a better deal since you are getting a new optical portion and an improved distributor in one, whereas with the ltcc or delteq you are up the river if your existing optical portion is messed up.
