Are LS1 rear brakes better than the LT1's? I know that the fronts have larger rotors (13"?) and the calipers are 4 piston, but what about the backs? Also can any part of them be swapped for the front?

 

the fronts are only dual piston, but from everything i read on the rear's, its not worth doing at all...

And those that have, they have swapped entire rear-ends rather then just the brakes, as they don't fit properly on an LT1 rear... not sure the exact reason, but hardly anyone swaps the rear's

 

Yes rear end is the easiest swap when doing it and the eBrake has to go as well. The LS1 eBrake is Drum while normal braking is disk. The caliper mounts towards the front of the vehicle instead of the back. Then also your ABS will go unless you had an LT1 with traction control/4 channel ABS and the rear brakes are hardly any better, nothing you'll notice at all but it would be just a cool factor to do.

i doubt it post it on the ls1 section. i think the rotors have part of the drum assembly built onto it, i may be wrong

No, they have Drum section built into them it's all in one.

 

Back LS1 rotors are different from the front, I ordered new Baer Eradispeed front and rear rotors with Hawk performance pads and they should be delivered any day. Finally gonna paint my calipers while I'm in there too.

So thats where Lordco guys come from, then they go through 5 years of training, identifying the difference between the front/back of the car.

Anyways, thanks for the edmucation guys! LOL Everything I've found on rear LS1 brakes, points to it being a useless mod.

The LS1 rotors I just ordered are different with the front having a 2-piece design, whatever. Payam, you and Sandeep can stick it as I was just trying to help you ****heads.

 

before you start calling names Drumhawk, think about what was written. On Vanf-bod and and Van Mustangs, you have been ridiculed beyond anything most of us have seen. Not many people have any respect for what you have to say. I have read almost everything that you have written on those forums because I didn't believe the rumours, I've ran multiple searches on your post, especially after I read what I thought were some pretty racist and ignorant comments. However, I read the threads from beginning to end, giving you the benefit of the doubt. After reading the threads, I gave you the benfit of the doubt based on some of the comments that were being made by others that you were not being a racist but merely going along with the sterotyping that they were partaking in. This was still stretching it since I didn't want to believe that such ignorant a$$holes exist. I never posted on those forums in response to some of your comments because SOME of those guys are no better in their comments. If you read what I said in this post, all I did was comment on what was happing to you. I couldn't believe that you were not getting any slack from anywhere. I never insulted you, I never ridiculed you. I simply stated that you couldn't catch a break. And yes that is funny so I laughed, hence the little LOL smilies.

I finally realized why people are bashing you. You say you were trying to help. Let me show you what is helping. I asked a question about rear LS1 brakes being better that rear LT1's. I also asked about whether or not they can be swapped back to front. Here, I'll refresh your memory....

Following are some examples of helpful answers....

1. Now this was pretty dam helpful. It almost answered all of my questions, including my misinformation about how many pistons in the LS1 calipers.

2. This is another informative answer with a solution. It EXPLAINED the possible difference

3. This answer eliminated the possible difference in #2 and completly answered my question.

Now after 7 posts including my own and the ones above, you come in with:

my impression of why SID respond the way he did, and probably the same reason that I was shaking my head after reading it, is that you were reciting what everyone one else was saying, you stated what was already known, with one exception. They helped and said why, and what other alternatives that I had or could think of. YOU respond with what others have been accusing you of, you state the WAY TOO OBVIOUS, bragging about your own stuff and NOT giving any valuable insight into anything.

In this post you come back with a comment on how your new rotors are different that you old ones and that you were just trying to help.... Hmmm lets look at your answer one final time.. You in no way answered any of my questions about the difference in LT1 and LS1 rotors and the compatibility between the rear LS1's rotors when it comes to fitting on the front of an LT1. Instead you talk about how your new front LS1 rotors are different because they are a two piece.

There is a lot more that I would like to say but that stuff would not be as polite as this. I would hope that you take what I say as constructive criticism (sp?) and not as a degradation of your character. You have been doing a fine job of that on your own.
