Transmission performance button. You will find lots of posts about it in the general tech forum.

I guess the search engine has let me down. Maybe all the posts are too old.

It uses a different set of shift tables to increase the hold time on shifts and also make it downshift with less throttle. Shifts may also seem a little more firm.
It only enables the feature that was available as a stock button on the 94-95 Firebirds.

Perhaps not on a stock feature but because I do believe a Firebird and a Camaro use the same tranny and probably near the same wiring harness, I'm sure you could rig one up.

You're missing the whole point, which is to rig up a button so it will work on the Camaro. The Firebird has the button as stock. The Camaros did not have the feature accessible.

The PCM already has the tables in the programming. You just need the button to turn it on/off. Works on 94-95s only.

Seriously? oh my i'm going to have fun now. So how does it exactly work? push the button and when you shift it'll work/shift better? or do you have to hold it down while shifting?

Press the button to turn it on. Press it again to turn it off. The momentary button (must be momentary) toggles it on/off. It will revert to the normal mode when the key is turned off, so whenever you start the car, it will be in normal mode.

The transmission will shift/act as previously described. The purpose is to keep the engine RPMs a little higher in the power band to make the car feel more "sporty".

A neat thing if you happen to do your own programming - you can modify the performance mode shift tables in the transmission, so that you can have a customized shift program at the touch of a button.

Ok, i found an SPST momentary button i can use. I don't know what SPST means or if it makes a difference, i know nothing when it comes to wiring or anything electrical. I don't know if i needed the toggle momentary or what or anything...damn i'm dumb... And is the light just to let you know it's on? and one last question, i just got a new transmission and it has a warranty on it, think this will void the warranty? I mean come on, they put them in firebirds.

EDIT: i forgot another stupid question. Why doesn't an ordinary toggle switch work? like a light switch?

Because it has to be momentary. If you bought a toggle switch, it must be one that is spring loaded and does not click on (like a light switch) and will return to it's normal position. Momentary means it makes a connection (while you push the button) and then releases when you release the button.

The button sends a momentary ground to the PCM as a signal to turn the mode on or off. The light is just to indicate on or off.

SPST means Single Throw Single Pole.

Oh, that's another thing. It does absolutely nothing for WOT performance. When your foot is flat on the floor, there is no difference from normal mode (assuming no custom programming).
