I'm just getting ready to put brand new rotors (Brembo blanks from tire rack) and Hawk HPS pads and stainless steel lines on my LS1 setup...

I'm still wanting to upgrade to the C5 setup eventually, but if I was to sell my LS1 setup, I'd have to sell it for about 650 + shipping...

I think you could do better buying from the states, so long as you get lucky with non-bent spindles... Or even just skip the LS1 setup and go with a Baer setup, or something like that.

Heres what I went through:

Initial LS1 purchase (250 US) - 325 CAD
Stainless Steel lines - 100 CAD
1 Knuckle was bent, had to buy another (60 US + shipping) - 110 CAD
2 front Brembo Rotors - 150 CAD
Hawk HPS Front pads - 100 CAD

which hurts to see, as i have about 750 into the setup, not including alignment and such

I could of almost had my C5 setup!! hehehe

I doubt your interested, but if so, let me know!

Also note that shipping would be quite a bit i'm sure, as all this crap is awfully heavy!

I think I'll hold off on getting the LS1 set-up and just buy the C5 brake set-up. It seems to me that the C5 is an easier swap, just cut the spindles, install the brackets and install the rotors and calipers. There's a vendor here that sells the kit for $779, of course that's in american dollars. I've also read that the famous "Bob Bishop" brackets are going to produced again sometime this year. Do you happen to know if the 13inch C5 rotors will fit under stock 17" WS6 wheels?

I'm not too sure if they fit, but I belive they do...

If you need brackets, I just found a guy selling a set for 290 US. He just replied to me yesterday. He posted on the frrax.com board.

He said they are Bob's brackets, and he bought them from a board member who had recently purchased them, so he thinks they are the newer versions.

but I agree, I wish I had 17" wheels when I upgraded my brakes so I could of just kept my spindles which I knew were straight and gotten better brakes as well.

I think you still need the LS1 spindle plus bracket am I not correct? I dont know.

I have the C5 setup on my car but its the Bear C5 setup pimpin.

 

Nope, bob's brackets work with either LT1 or LS1 spindles...

Yea... But you can do it for much cheaper... If you get good spindles the first time, less 110... you don't need the brake lines, less another 100

I drove a year or more with the rotors and pads that came with the setup...

So really, for a year or 2, you can get away with say 250-300 US for the whole setup.

but like any brake setup, you'll need new pads and rotors eventually, and in this case, new brembo rotors and hawk pads cost me 250 or so CAD.

I'm really looking forward to getting the new rotors/pads/lines on and giving it a really good test

 

My setup is just the LS1 Baer C5 brake kit on LS1 spindles.

What you have to do to make the brackets fit that come with it (look like Bob's brakcets), is on the LS1 spinlde you have to cut off half of the upper caliper mounting hole then it fits.

 

if Bob Bishop starts making his spindles again i'm definitely picking up a set
