yo guys i just raced my buddys 1990 lincoln mark 7 lsc 5.0 a4 wit my 2000 y87/ w68 firebird and i launched the hell outa him and basically beat him till about 80 mph but then he came back strong??? its all stock exept for a flowmaster muffler? i only have a flowmaster muffler too but i thought i could take him im so pissed that an old *** lincoln/ ford 5.0 ho beat me stock 4 stock and im 15 years newer. does ne1 know wut these things do stock cause im confused i figured its a mustang 5.0 wit a couple extra hundred pounds any help would be great thanks!!!

 

Checked a couple sites, looks like they run about 14.5-14.7 with exhaust.

 

What does the Y87 Camaro/Firebirds run in the 1/4 mile? I know our gear help us out...

 

Very believable, those 5.0's arn't exactly the snails people say they are... I got LEFT by a 5.0 80's model Mustang when I had CAI / Y87 package and he pretty much left me standing still like I wasn't even on the gas from a roll. We also suck on the topend so thats why he beat you after 80. I took out a newer model Mustang GT till 80 and it was a 5 spd and then he started putting cars on me. Unless you're going against rice, after 70 MPH you can forget it, you're going to lose unless it's a heavy sedan and then MAYBE you stand a chance...

It doesn't help as much as it feels
at the VERY most I'd say it takes about .2 off our 1/4 mile... they feel peppy in comparison to regular Camaro's though... I like my car...

I think you are giving way to much credit to the Lincoln.

A decent 5.0 Mustang will run 14.4-15.0 stock.

 

me too, my sister had a MarkVII, it was quick... but it weighed ALOT! id find it hard to see one run a 14.5 with a muffler...
