losing too much water!!

I need to know what is wrong....when i have the temperature **** for the air conditioner turned all the way on heat, i don't lose any water. But when i turn the know over to cold, even without turning the AC on, i lose most of the water in my radiator. It happens every time...can somebody tell me what the problem is and possibly how to fix it?

Is the coolant running out onto the ground? I was loosing my coolant due to a split in the seam of the coolant recovery tank (overflow tank). I've known others to have the same problem. If it's not leaking out of anything and your coolant level is still dropping you have a much larger problem. Refill it with coolant, drive it until it's at operating temprature, then park it leave it running, and check for leaks anywhere, adjusting whichever ***** that seem to initiate the loss. Once you've found where it's escaping from, you have a much better idea of the problem.

No the coolant and water isn't leaking onto the ground. I have no clue where it is going, but it won't stay full. DO i have a leak somewhere else?

If you're still losing a very significant amount of coolant and it's not leaving the engine, then you have a big problem. Change your oil and look at the old oil. Is it brownish or have green puddles in it? This would be an indication of coolant in the oil.

You can usually check for coolant in the oil by seeing if there is foam on the oil dipstick or if there is antifreeze in the oil filler cap. Changing your oil would give you the best idea of the condition your oil is in though.
