D 0r Od

Was wondering which gear people are driving in in their camaros. I always go between drive and overdrive depending on the trip. What are you guys running in ? Should I just run in overdrive all the time or what? Just trying to find out what's safer for the tranny if it makes a difference..thanks!

Drive it in overdrive.

Its not going to be any worse for the tranny either way. If you only drive it in D, that like driving a 5 speed car, and only using the first 4 gears. Its better for gas milelage and lets your engine run at a lower RPM.

On a side note, the only reason I clicked this thread is because I had NO idea what the title was trying to say.

Overdrive bro... Saves gas and lower RPM like he said above. Sounds meaner to when u cruise at 1500RPM in 4th gear OD with the FLOWMASTERS! Now if you feel racey along with another fellow at a stoplight put it in Drive

I only use Regular D (3rd gear) when I'm on steep hills and want an engine brake.

Actually, if you leave it in D and not OD you will only being using the first 3 gears. the 700R4/4L60/4L60e is a 4 speed automatic. Third gear is 1:1 and 4th is the overdrive gear.

lol, yeah I know. I was just making the analogy. 5 speed came to mind first, because thats what I drive.
