is this ok?

I had a post here the other night about my car puking antifreeze out. Well I went to the dealership a bought it from & they agreed that it was running warm. So they did a 2 stage flush( whatever a 2 stage is) they went ahead & changed the stat. So they called me & said the car now runs about 180 on the hiway & the hottest they got it was in stop & go traffic & it reached 218 degree's. It was about 90 degree's here yesterday. So is that temp ok 180-218?

Then the service engine soon light came on also when it was running hot. So they ran my codes & it came back to slipping transmission. They said since your Tranny lines run into your radiator & the radiator was hot that it was thinning your tranny fluid & building pressure in the lines & they said it must have slipped when the car was warm. I know for a fact & they do know that the tranny is not slipping. So is that possible about the slipping cause the fluid was hot & prolly thinning?

Thanks for all your all's help
Bill

That's about right for a stock temp thermostat and stock fan programming.

Sounds possiable. How hot was it when it was overheating? Does it slip now?

It got to 235 degree's. I never even felt the tranny slip. I was going down the highway at 75 when the service engine light came on. No it's not slipping.

if the tranny has been slippping the engine will run hotter than normal, but if the trans isnt slipping then youve got other problems

If I were you I wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps comming on. I do have to say though that allmost every time I took my car to the dealer to get some work done, I got the car back something else was screwed up. I will never take her to a stealer again.
