Pulling heads, do I have to remove the whole accesory bracket? Need help ASAP!

I removed the p/s pump and the 2 screws that go into the heads, do I have to unbolt the a/c compressor and the rest of the bracket?

Also, is there any special way to remove the head bolts, like inside towards outside or outside towards inside?

You do not have to remove the bracket. Once you get the two bolts that go into the front of the head off that's all you need. Actually, when I put my car back together I just left those bolts out

When I removed my head bolts, I remember loosening them about half a turn starting from the outside and working in, then after that pulled them the rest of the way on the next pass. I'm not sure if that's even necessary, but I did it.

Once you remove the couple bolts that attach it to the head, you can just move the bracket forward, but you have to remove a couple of the accessories anyway to get all the bolts you need to remove. Don't be lazy...take it apart and clean everything before putting it back together, it's worth the extra time to get rid of the nasties that build up on everything.

Don't forget about the coolant line in the back of the heads. Just unbolt the pass side and take the whole line out with the driver side head.

I'm sure its too late, make sure you be carefull on those cross over bolts. Make sure you use a 6 point socket, not a 12.

I cleaned up the top of my pistons also when it was off. just got alot of carb cleaner and a lot of elbow grease, accually now that I think of it. I used a very soft piece of flat wood to help scrap the deposits off. The wood isn't strong enough to put any scratches or anything but will do better than your fingernail

take you time and good luck.

I just left both coolant crossover tubes bolts on and removed both heads at the same time. Made it really easy to remove with them set on the table.
