What are some good parts for a bottom end rebuild?
Sounds like you're going to need a decent crank, a balanced assembly, and it wouldn't hurt to upgrade to splayed main caps.
Eagle makes a pretty good kit. I've got one of their low compression 383 blower kits sitting in my garage at the moment and it looks to be a quality assembly. Your first objective should be to figure out a budget and exactly what you're expecting out of the motor.
Oh, and the only real cost difference between say a forged 355 and a forged 383 will be a little extra in clearancing the block for the longer crank throws.

Scat makes a great kit too. Top notch parts, and they ship with SRP pistons. Only other thing you'll need is the machine work on the block, and good fasteners if you decide to upgrade that too. ..

Look for either the 1-383FHPS kit or the 1-383IPS kit. I went with the H kit for the H-beam rods, but the I-beams look good too..
