What happens if you run w/out o2?

One of my o2's is bad I think and someone told me to take it out and see if my prob is gone. What happens when you take it out? Can anything bad happen? Just seems like the car wouldn't run right without.

o2s tell the PCM what the A/F ratio is and the PCM adjusts to keep the ratio at 14.7.1 at closed loop.

When engine is running in open loop the o2s are ignored.

So I assume that not having anything to go by when in closed loop that your engine would really run crappy.JMHO

it will run really rich and run like crap. Had the pass side O2 break on an OBD1 Formula.

It would blow a lot of dark smoke out of the tail pipes when you get on it.
Changed the O2 and all was good again.

Hook a scanner to the car and see if the 02 voltages go up and down when you give it gas and let off. The broken one read .45volts constantly while the good one went from .6 to .8 or .9.

Thats exactly right you all asume to much on somethings, Ive got LT's and havent used O2's for over a year now and Im telling you to do it, It will run so much better! O2's arent bad if you use them, but try it without them and see how your car will idle and run! Puts a smile on your face also when people cam their cars they also pull the O2's because it will run better!

If you are going to try this, don't take it out, just unplug it. I think that's what you meant, but I wouldn't want that hot air shooting out of my exhaust.
